Working with community actors to protect children

This short document shows some examples of Tdh’s work on child protection that involves community actors. Working with community actors is a culturally sensitive, respectful, and empowerment-oriented approach. The approach in working with communities focuses on in-depth understanding of children’s situations, community empowerment, collaborations and connectedness, and child participation. The examples of Tdh’s work given in the document cover different situations faced by children that need to be protected. Cases presented in this document are children in contact with the law, children in gold mining sites, and migrant children. Each of the case shows which community actor is at stake, how Tdh worked with community actors, and what lessons have been learned in different situation.
