Webinar: Preventing and Responding to Violence Affecting Children in Child Justice Systems

As we move closer to the 5th World Congress on Justice With Children (2-4 June 2025), thhis webinar explored critical reflections on preventing and addressing violence affecting children in justice systems. An esteemed panel of experts and a young advocate from the World Congress JWC’s Child and Youth Advisory Committee discussed reflections, innovative approaches, and holistic solutions to ensure child-centred justice systems that effectively protect children from all forms of violence. Violence against children in justice systems remains a global crisis, exacerbated by systemic challenges such as conflict, forced displacement, and the impact of climate change. This webinar examined how justice systems could move beyond punitive measures to prioritize reinsertion, prevention, and protection. From implementing trauma-informed practices to addressing intersectional vulnerabilities and fostering community-based alternatives, the session highlighted actionable strategies to create safe, supportive environments for children in contact with the law. This insightful 55-minute session provides valuable perspectives and contributions toward shaping a world where children’s rights and needs are at the forefront of justice systems.
