As artificial intelligence (AI) advances at an increasingly fast pace, it is crucial that child justice professionals are equipped to navigate AI challenges and opportunities. We are thrilled to announce three innovative publications developed by the i-ACCESS MyRights project.

AI Glossary for child professionals: a guide to help understanding AI
The i-ACCESS AI Glossary aims to facilitate the contribution of child protection and child justice professionals towards child-centric AI development, by helping them understand and navigate through the most common AI concepts and general legal and ethical concerns.
The glossary illustrates relevant AI concepts, their applications on child protection and child justice, and the recommendations for developing and using AI tools that are ethical and child-friendly.
The potential and limitations of AI chatbot to improve children’s access to justice
This legal study explores how AI affects children’s rights, both positively and negatively. It provides a comprehensive overview of the current AI landscape, including its use in child justice systems, its potential for improving outcomes for children, and the risks it poses to children's privacy and decision-making. This report focuses on the legal and ethical frameworks that protect children when AI is used in justice systems.
With a specific focus on how to implement safeguards, this publication provides practical recommendations for justice professionals, offering strategies to mitigate the risks of bias, discrimination, and over-reliance on AI. It also provides a guide for creating ethical AI systems that prioritise fairness and transparency in child justice contexts.
These publications are part of the i-Access MyRights project. Funded by the EU, i-ACCESS explores how AI can improve access to justice for child victims in Europe, by building a child-centric AI tool and advocating for the rights and well-being of children in the digital space.
The project is funded by the EU Justice Programme and is implemented by Terre des hommes Regional Hub in Hungary, Terre des hommes Hellas, Terre des hommes Romania, Social Activities and Practice Institute in Bulgaria, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, Noldus in the Netherlands and Lawren.io in Belgium.
